Letter from Pastor Brandon
For the next 4 weeks we are splitting up the Middle School and High School teaching time. Each age group will cover completely different age-specific content. High school begins a series on sex and dating while the middle school jump into a series on how to transition from childhood into adulthood.
We are VERY excited about both of these series, and we want you be prepared for the questions your students (especially high school students) may bring home.
Below, I will outline the content for both series. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you have. (email@example.com)
Additional note for high school parents:
High school parents,
Every day, our high schoolers are exposed to lies about dating and sex in virtually ever media outlet, from movies to television to music to magazines. I recently read a statistic that over 75% of television and movies have sexual themes and virtually none of them live up to the Biblical view of sex. Few topics are more relevant to their lives than a frank and honest discussion about sex, marriage and dating.
This is why from March 8th to April 5th our high schoolers only will examine the biblical foundation for marriage and sex. The purpose of this series is to raise up a generation of students with a Biblical view of marriage, who are able to resist the temptations and pressures of the world.
We will affirm the core Biblical teachings about sex:
- Sex before marriage is a sin (Song of Songs 2:7)
- Marriage is a sacred institution established by God (Genesis 2)
- Biblical marriage is intended for one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24-25)
- The dating relationship should be kept pure (I Thessalonians 4:3-8)
- Pornography is a sin (Matthew 5:28)
My job and the job of our student ministry leadership team is to help your family guide your student to an understanding of God's eternal truth. Please use us as a resource as we team up with you to teach your students the important truths about sex and marriage found in God's Word.
